Can you guess these alto flute melodies?

If you love alto flute, I want to see if you can guess these four pieces written especially for alto flute. So let's see how you go.

Proper flute technique

Firstly, I'm Jane Cavanagh. I'm a flute teacher. I love teaching people proper flute technique, not just alto flute. And if you'd like to learn for free, how to instantly get a stronger tone with your flute playing, join me at www.flute.school

All right, here we go. Number One, do you know what this is from? We'll start with an easy one. Let me know in the comments below if you know what that is from. I think it is a very famous theme, so good chance you're going to know what it is.

Guess the flute tune

Number Two, this is a lot harder if you're a classical flute player and you've played in orchestras, you might know this, but it's a little bit harder because it's the harmony part. There are four flutes playing in this piece. So see if you know what that one is.

By the way, if you'd like a clue, I'm going to give you clues to all these pieces at the end of this video. So see if you can guess it without the clues. And if you need a clue, I will tell you at the end, or maybe I shouldn't give you any clues. Mm. I'll wait and see.

Classical flute piece

Okay, Number Three is this one. This is also a famous orchestral piece that's kind of a clue in itself. Now, there's a big moment of the whole orchestra playing, the flutes playing, and then the alto flute ends off the phrase with this, do you know what it is? Amazing piece, one of my favourite pieces of classical music.

Okay. And the Fourth one, if I can turn my page, Oh my gosh, the page is stuck. Okay, we can do this. The fourth one is this. Now, I haven't seen this movie, but I'm pretty sure that this is an alto flute in the movie from what I've heard from people. So if I'm wrong, you can definitely correct me.

Okay, if you know any of those pieces, let me know in the comments because I'd be keen to know if you know. If you know all four, tell me all four. You get an extra gold star, virtual gold star.

Famous melodies

Now, the clues Number 1 is a famous movie with music written by John Williams. Number 2 is one of my favourite pieces, orchestral pieces, written by Holst. Number 3 is one of my favourite classical pieces written by Ravel. And Number 4 is another famous movie with the music written by Howard Shore.
