Make a friend feel good on their birthday

Make a friend feel good on their birthday!

Mar 10, 2020

Can you think of anyone you know (and like!) who has a birthday coming up soon? (Apart from me, of course 🎉)

I bet you do know someone!

So I've got a great way for you to:

  1. Make them feel GOOD; and
  2. Practice your flute playing!

Watch the video above to learn more about how to brighten up their day using your flute playing.

At this time, every year I go and teach my flute students and I teach them how to play Happy Birthday. And they come back in a few weeks from now and they play it to me because it's my birthday soon. So I have a challenge for you this year, and it's not to send me a recording of happy birthday, even though that would be kind of cool. It's actually for you to think of the next person that you know and like, that has a birthday coming up. And I want you to record on your phone using the voice recorder app, happy birthday for them and send it to them. I tell you what they will love it. I guarantee they will love it. So have a think. Who's the next person who has a birthday coming up. If it's someone that you know and see all the time, for example, like your children or your siblings, you could play it to them in real life. But I'd tell you what, someone that you don't see very often that you like, that you're close with, who's got a birthday coming up, would love to get this little message from you. It's just like a little taste of real life sent to them through your phone. Now you can start on any note that you're comfortable with. I personally like the one starting on G because there's no sharps, no flats. And it's very easy to work out

Now, right? Where you are watching this video right below it. You'll see a link to the sheet, music of Happy Birthday. It's free. It's from the wonderful website, flutetunes.com. You can use this. It starts on low D or you can use whichever version you've got floating around in your head or any music books at home. But trust me, this person whose birthday is coming up is going to feel really good when they get this recording from you. And it's good practice for you. All right. See you next week.
